INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN

I am passionate about helping people to understand complex concepts in an approachable way. I'm also passionate about improving opportunities for people with disabilities by cultivating respect for diversity and dismantling ableism. I created this four-part series of videos to help introduce parents, caregivers, providers, and people with disabilities to the concept of ableism.

MODULE 1: What is ableism?
MODULE 2: Why does it matter?
MODULE 3: What does ableism look like?
MODULE 4: What can I do about ableism?

Web Design

I designed my first website during my undergraduate study at Miami University, using self-taught HTML coding. Since then, I have had numerous opportunities to refine my skills - both as a technical communication instructor at Miami University and later, as the primary user interface designer of a business-to-business eCommerce portal for a Fortune 500. I believe in understanding your audience and in organizing online information in an intuitive way.

Print Design

I earned a Masters in Technical and Scientific Communication in 2000 and spent the first 10 years of my professional career in this field, authoring and designing technical documentation for a Fortune 500 company. This background has not only helped me to see the big picture but to also focus on the details that make a document truly work for its intended audience. Some of my more recent projects include program fliers for Cleveland-area nonprofit, print ads and signs, and informational pieces for local small businesses.
